為非常重大的事感恩的人多;
感恩一定是喜樂而不是憂愁;
三者都是從正面角度看遭遇;

To search for a thankful heart
The article “Growing gratitude’ in today’s
Our Daily Bread reminded us to be more aware of God’s blessings in daily
life and to have a grateful heart. The author shared her experience:
“To expand my awareness of God’s blessings in my
life, I am learning to cultivate a heart that acknowledges the source of all
the joys I experience each day, but especially the ones I often take for
granted. Today those included a crisp morning to run, the anticipation of an
evening with friends, a stocked pantry so I could make French toast with my
daughters, the beauty of the world outside my window, and the aroma of
freshly brewed coffee.”
Among the examples listed, I surely echo with ‘the
beauty of the world outside my window’!
The author asked, “What is the “so much” that God
has already given to you? Opening our eyes to those blessings will help us to
develop grateful hearts.”
In other words, in order to develop grateful hearts,
we need to open our eyes to blessings.
A reminder at the end of the article was:
“Take a few minutes to thank God for what comes to
your mind right now. Try to do that throughout the day as well.”
However, the internet and news media nowadays are
often bombarded with annoying news. As this era advocates rights, justice,
equality, and efficiency, we seem to feel more and more judgmental and
unsatisfied. We find our expectations more and more difficult to be fulfilled,
and we may even blame more about the reality of people and this world. We seem
more and more dissatisfied, less and less grateful. Are we grateful for small
matters in daily life? Or are we only grateful for great issues?
Gratitude, joy, and contentment are interrelated.
If we are not joyous, we couldn’t be grateful.
If we are not contended, we wouldn’t be grateful and
joyous.
Paul said
‘we gladly suffer’, which surely needs deeper thought and understanding through
personal real experience,
“By faith
we have been made acceptable to God. And now, because of our Lord Jesus Christ,
we live at peace[a] with God. Christ has also introduced us to
God’s undeserved kindness on which we take our stand. So we are happy, as we
look forward to sharing in the glory of God. But that’s not all! We gladly suffer, because we know
that suffering helps us to endure. And endurance builds character, which gives us a hope that will never disappoint us. All of this happens
because God has given us the Holy Spirit, who fills our hearts with his love.”
(Romans 5:1-5, CEV)
It’s just like the sunrise that was affected by smog
this morning:
although visibility was affected, the sun and the
clouds surrounding the sun were even more saturated in orange, yellow, and
golden color.
People see scenery differently due to differences in
values, attitude, and mood. Therefore, if we have a grateful heart, we could
see the beauty in the scenery that we see, and we are able to see where the
beauty lies in.
