A symphony of light

(English at the bottom)
或較後時間的金海銀海,未有睇戲睇全套」;
或一條中流砥柱,或扇形散開;
7:10 a.m. The sun appeared above the hillslope
7:34 a.m. The sun had enlarged,
but no sign of a golden sea
7:38  a.m. A patch of gold
started to appear on the sea
7:43 a.m. The golden area was enlarged
as the sun had risen higher
7:48 a.m. Clouds suddenly appeared in
the clear sky and started to block the sunlight
7:57 a.m. The sun was blocked, gold disappeared
8:11 a.m. Crepuscular ray shone on the golden sea
8:19 a.m.  The gaps were enlarged,
multi beams of crepuscular rays
8:25 a.m. The gaps closing,
rays reduced,
no golden reflection on the sea
8:30 a.m. The hole was enlarged,
supplying the sea with light again.
9:08 a.m. Strong contrast, silver sea
9:18 a.m. Clouds dispersed
If the camera focused more
on the sun, the silver area was smaller
Same time as above,
if the shot focused more on the sea,
the silver area was larger

日出天色變化多端,顏色由橙黃至藍白;

好比在灰暗中,需要一線曙光;

8:45 a.m. Look sideways, the clouds were in such a pattern,
very thick, wierd looking

A symphony of light

Who would be interested to observe the changes
in the sun, clouds, light, and sea during sunrise?
I was not watching the sky all the time,
only peeping now and then during two-hours' time on Sunday morning,
attracted by the constant variations orchestrated by the sun, clouds, and wind.
In the past, I just took snapshots,
or watched the beginning of sunrise,
or focused on the golden and silver sea.
But on this day, the moving sun, together with the wind moving the clouds,
have created constant variations in the crepuscular rays and colors of the sea.

Notice changes

One single beam of crepuscular ray, or multi beams spanning across the sky,
the sight had changed every time I looked up at the sky!
That's why I couldn't help taking snaps,
giving a record of the silent and beautiful changes,
probably without anybody noticing it or bother to record it,
except such a leisure, nosy, and childlike person like me!
We usually take snapshots of natural scenery at the first sight.
But this 2-hour observation has taught me to take time
and pay attention to observe silent changes in the great nature.

Notice a ray of hope

Which photo has particularly caught my attention?
It's the single beam of crepuscular ray shinning on the sea.
Like a ray of hope given from God,
shinning in front of us amidst darkness in life,
which we might neglect if we only focus on our difficulties.
Have we noticed God's love, care, and guidance
during the darkest hours in our life?
Without darkness, light is not apparent.
The same applies to God's grace and blessings amidst our suffering and failures.

Failures and Restoration

This day's (10/12) article 'Restored Failures' in 'Our Daily Bread' reminded us:
"The world may embrace success. But stories of past failure offer people hope too. They assure us that God loves us no matter how many times we have failed. ...
I love the comfort of Psalm 145, which speaks of God’s “wonderful works” (vv. 5–6) and glorious kingdom (v. 11). It describes His compassion (vv. 8–9) and faithfulness (v. 13)—then immediately tells us that He lifts up those who have fallen (v. 14). All His attributes are expressed when He picks us up. He is indeed in the business of restoration. Have you failed before? We all have. Have you been restored? All who have been redeemed are stories of God’s grace."

View from another perspective

While processing the photos in the computer, I noticed that
if the photos of clouds were viewed sideways,
the pattern of the clouds was very spectacular and weird.
Viewing from another angle provides our brain with a new perspective,
the same applies to difficulties and failures in our life.
