Crepuscular ray on the sea. Can we see it? Can we see the 'vision' that God has provided to us?
『沒有異象(或作默示),民就放肆;
異象不單只限於在職人士;
短短一分鐘後已模糊;
2018 Jan 7 10:13 a.m. Crepuscular rays from 'a hole'. |
2018 Jan 7 10:14 a.m. Crepuscular rays blurred after a minute. |
2018 Jan 7 10:37 a.m. Crepuscular ray (right) shone onto the sea.
2018 Jan 7 10:38 a.m. Crepuscular ray blurred after a minute.
To
live for a vision
What does it mean?
This is the title of an article* that I've read today.
At the beginning of the year,
people may draw a yearly plan
for themselves and their family members.
"Where there is no ·word from God [vision; prophecy], ·
people are uncontrolled [the people perish],
but those who ·obey what they have been taught [ guard the law] are ·happy [blessed]."
(Proverbs 29:18, Expanded Bible)
For followers of Christ,
we live on the vision provided by God.
We plan our life base on God's vision
which is individually planned for us,
no matter whether we think it is reasonable or not.
God hasn't asked for our opinions.
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)
Some people have led a tough or turbulent life,
and they couldn't stop asking God, "Where is fairness?"
The Lord doesn't appear in great shows,
He appeared in a great storm and calmed the turbulent waves.
'Waves' could be turbulence in our life or heart.
In our life, what is suffering? What is blessing?
What is miracle? What is vision?
Why does someone have to walk
a particularly crooked path of life?
We could not judge the plan that God has planned for us.
Sometimes we pray that God will bless what we plan for ourselves,
without thinking of God's will first.
But this is self-centredness.
Vision doesn't only apply to those who are working.
How about students, housewives,
and those who have retired?
As lifespan is prolonged in this era and the next,
what is/are the vision(s) for the rest of our days?
We need to wait for Him to reveal to us.
But even when He gives us a vision,
we need a pure heart which is not polluted by sin
and self desires in order to 'see' the vision.
We need God to reveal His will to us.
We couldn't find it by our own effort.
When we know His will that
something needs immediate action,
we need willingness to obey.
If God's will is different from our self intentions,
we might not obey, or we might try to avoid.
Then as time goes by,
we couldn't see His vision nor hear His words.
The above photos were the crepuscular rays
in this cloudy winter morning.
Twice, the rays appeared within a minute
and then became blurred,
which means that timing is crucial.
Crepuscular rays don't appear under clear sky,
but under clouds.
The closer the gaps, the clearer the rays.
The greater the contrast in light and darkness,
the clearer the rays.
So the same rule applies to God's blessings,
miracles, and visions:
the greater the contrast in the situations,
the clearer we could see His blessings, miracles, and visions!

the book Experiencing God Day by Day'.
Some ideas above were taken from the article and
translated from Chinese into English.
