Life is like a sea voyage
A few days
ago, I noticed lots of ‘lines’ on the sea surface. The lines were mostly ‘drawn’
by boats passing by. The sea was very calm and under the morning sun ray, the
pattern looked unusually clear and complex .
When I was
reading the article ‘Gazing
at the horizon’ in Our Daily Bread today (29 May 2018), an idea suddenly came up in my mind: those 'lines' on the sea surface resemble incidents that we have experienced in our lives.
Life
is like a jigsaw puzzle, interwoven by different people and incidents. Experiences in life are interwoven, leaving behind markings in our memory.
For
the people who are steering a boat, they won’t be looking at the markings that
the boat has left behind on the sea. They would only focus on their journey’s destination
and head towards it.
In
the article 'Gazing at the horizon', it said, “The
Maker of the horizon (Job 26:10) knows that sometimes in life we may become
fearful and restless. We can regain perspective by focusing on the distant but
steady point of our destiny…Our present troubles are temporary. We are
“foreigners and strangers on earth” (11:13), but gazing at the horizon of God’s
promises provides the point of reference we need.”
